As a secretary, you will:

  • Advise the supervisor of important office matters arising during their absence and brings the supervisors attention to significant items in reports, files, and correspondence.
  • Maintain supervisor’s appointment schedule, advising supervisor of appointments and commitments that may affect future decisions.
  • Arrange meetings, including space, time, and staff. Assembles background material for agenda items and informs participants of topics to be discussed.

  • The official duty station for this position will be in Washington, District of Columbia. Failure to report to duty at this location may be grounds for a disciplinary action, including removal.

Key Requirements:

  • Must be U.S. Citizen or U.S. National.
  • A one-year probationary period may be required.
  • Must successfully complete a background investigation.
  • Complete a Declaration for Federal Employment to determine your suitability for Federal employment, at the time requested by the agency.
  • Have your salary sent to a financial institution of your choice by Direct Deposit/Electronic Funds Transfer.

Qualifications

You must meet the following requirements by the closing date of this announcement.

Specialized experience for the GS-08 is defined as one year of experience at the GS-07 level, or equivalent that is directly related to the position and which has equipped the candidate with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position. Specialized experience for this position must include the following:

  • Using computerized office software, for example, Word or Excel. AND
  • Using and maintaining office equipment (e.g., copiers, fax, telephones, personal computers, shredders, etc.). AND
  • Preparing and reviewing office documents. AND
  • Dealing with a variety of contacts and handling each contact with tact and diplomacy.

Experience may have been gained in either the public, private sector or volunteer serviceOne year of experience refers to full-time work; part-time work is considered on a prorated basis.
