Duties

The Office of Housing provides vital public services through its nationally administered programs. It oversees the Federal Housing Administration (FHA), the largest mortgage insurer in the world, and regulates important parts of the housing industry. The Office of Housing is committed to building and preserving healthy neighborhoods and communities through homeownership, rental housing and healthcare opportunities.

The Office of Single Family Housing is responsible for the overall management of Single Family mortgage insurance programs for the Federal Housing Administration (FHA). The Office assists in the expansion of affordable and quality homeownership opportunities for individuals and families who are traditionally underserved by the private market. The Office also acts as a stabilizing force in the single family home financing market by increasing access to mortgage credit. Policies and programs administered by the Office-from becoming an FHA-approved mortgage lender or other stakeholder, to mortgage origination through post-closing and endorsement processes, servicing of FHA mortgages, and beyond-assist in the provision of these affordable mortgage programs while meeting the needs of borrowers. These functions are carried out by dedicated staff in our Washington, DC headquarters, four Homeownership Centers in Atlanta, GA, Denver, CO, Philadelphia, PA, and Santa Ana, CA, and through our National Servicing Center in Tulsa, OK.

As a/an Housing Program Specialist, you will:

  • Use data systems to analyze and/or report results of education, outreach and communication improvements.
  • Have ability to communicate with diverse partners, customers, and cohorts through both oral and written communication skills. Coordinates with other Offices (i.e., Asset Management, Program Development, Risk) within HUD to develop, facilitate and present industry and SF program training.
  • Process and provide technical assistance and response to non-profits in their application for HUD approval to participate in FHA/HUD programs. Providing technical guidance for non-profits that are approved to provide FHA secondary financing.

Conditions of Employment

The official duty station for this position will be in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Failure to report to duty at this location may be grounds for a disciplinary action, including removal.Key Requirements:

Qualifications

You must meet the following requirements by the closing date of this announcement.

Specialized Experience: For the GS-12, specialized experience is 1 year of experience at the GS-11 level or equivalent interpreting housing program regulations and policies, tracking changes, and responding to various types of inquiries regarding program activities.

Examples of such experience include:
– Conducting studies or reviews relevant to organizational goals and objectives of Federal Housing Administration programs;
– Working on projects and providing progress reports to management of programs that benefit low and moderate income persons;
– Providing technical assistance or training to non-profit entities or external stakeholders engaged in providing Federal Housing Administration programs;
– Performing trend analysis, reporting findings, and written recommendations to management officials for improvements, implementation, and evaluation of program areas.

Experience may have been gained in either the public, private sector or volunteer serviceOne year of experience refers to full-time work; part-time work is considered on a prorated basis.
