Part-time Administrative Assistant, NAMC National Office, Washington, DC

The main office of the National Association of Minority Contractors is seeking to hire a part-time administrative assistant to perform the following duties:

Job Functions and Responsibilities

Under general supervision, the Administrative Assistant performs the following job functions:

Office Administration: Performs the following tasks related to office administration:

  • Reports to the national office program director in support of the organization’s executive officers, board members, committee members, and local chapters
  • Manages calendar appointments and schedules meetings
  • Conducts internet research, summarizes findings, and makes recommendations
  • Inputs, maintains, and verifies accuracy of data
  • Drafts, formats, copy-edits, proof-reads, and fact-checks memos, reports, presentations, spreadsheets, minutes, and other documents
  • Assists with developing press releases, FB and Twitter postings
  • May participate in planning and/or participating in organizational events
  • Complies with company policies and with applicable laws and regulations
  • Demonstrates professionalism in the workplace, meets deadlines and manages tasks
  • Responds to inquiries received via phone, mail, and/or email, or appropriately routes them
  • Organizes and maintains paper and electronic files
  • Performs general administrative duties such as copying, faxing, and filing
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Education and Experience:

  • Associate degree or the equivalent in work experience

Position-specific Qualifications:

Comfortable with working independently in a fast-paced office environment

  • Courteous and professional in person and on the phone
  • Excellent at tracking and completing multiple tasks in a very busy office environment
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; a writing sample will be required
  • Excellent information-gathering and analysis skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite applications (minimally, Outlook, Word, and Excel).
  • Familiarity with Publisher, PowerPoint, and Adobe Acrobat
  • Experience with social media, email/marketing such as I contact and social media marketing experience such as Twitter and FB, maintaining website
  • Experience with Internet browsers
  • Experienced in maintaining confidential records and information
  • Demonstrates integrity, flexibility, professional judgment, and collaborative approach to work
  • Punctual, responsible, and able to work up to 20 hours per week in our downtown Washington, DC office
  • Experience with Quickbooks Online a plus
  • Job Type: Part-time

  • 10AM

Typical end time:

  • 4PM

Compensation: Competitive based on experience
