SUMMARY:2023 NAMC NATIONAL BOARD OF DIRECTOR MEETING & LEGISLATIVE FORUM
DESCRIPTION:NAMC National Board of Director Meeting & Legislative Forum \nTuesday\, June 20 – Wednesday\, June 21\, 2023 | 9:00 AM – 2:00 PM EDT \nNAMC National Directors\, Chapter Presidents and Chairpersons\, and NAMC General Members are invited to attend the NAMC Annual National Board of Director Meeting and Legislative Forum. The NAMC National Board will meet on Tuesday\, June 20\, from 9:00 AM – 4:30 PM\, on Capitol Hill\, and again on Wednesday\, June 21\, from 9:00 AM – 2:00 PM\, at the Mayflower Hotel\, 1127 Connecticut Ave NW\, Washington\, DC. \nFor more than 53 years\, the National Association of Minority Contractors\, the oldest minority construction trade association in the United States\, has been a major voice and advocate for minority-\, women-\, and veteran-owned construction contractor small businesses as well as millions of minority trade workers in the construction industry. Through a network of local chapters and in collaboration with strategic and corporate partnerships\, NAMC assists members with building capacity by providing access to opportunity\, legislative advocacy\, and contractor development training. \nKey Legislative Concerns \n\n\n\nOverutilization of non-minority WBE companies and underutilization of minority-owned construction firms\, especially Black and minority women-owned companies\n\n\n\n\n The impact of Bruckner and Project Management Corporation v. Biden et al. and claims that Section 11101(e)(3) of the Infrastructure Act violates the equal protection clause guarantee of the United States Constitution.\n\n\n\n\nWorkforce development and job readiness training in the transportation industry\n\n\n\n\nSBA vs. USDOT Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (DBE) program participation in strengthening American businesses and rebuilding American communities\n\n\n\n\nUSDOT DBE program reform for consistency with the SBA via much-needed SBA size standard reform. Certified DBEs are limited when competing because certified DBEs are constrained to the lower size standard of the DBE program. SBA allows participating companies a size standard limit of more than $40M; the USDOT DBE program allows only up to $20M.\n\n\n\n\nLimited workforce development and on-the-job readiness training in state DOT projects. Allowed in federal projects\, but not at the state level.\n\n\n\n\nSignificant improvement in the enforcement and compliance of the USDOT Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (DBE) Program\n\n\n\n\nInclusion of minority-owned businesses in the procurement process\n\n\n\nWe look forward to seeing you in person in Washington\, DC. Please contact the NAMC national office as soon as possible with any questions. Via phone at 202.296.1600 or email at events@namcnational.org. \nClick here to register.
